New Features in Clean Drive for 2022
Kicking off the new year, I would like to highlight new capabilities within Clean Drive. Now, you can see your large folders, view your empty folders, better browse by specific types of files and change your email preferences.
You can now view the folders taking the most storage space in your Google Drive account. Combine the large folders with filters (action button > filter), and you have even more control in seeing where storage space is being used. For more detailed information check out my blog article on how to find and remove large folders.
Easily view your empty folders and delete them in bulk with this new feature. It’s incredible how quickly empty folders accumulate in Google Drive. In my personal account, I had over 50,000 empty folders! These empty folders accumulate over time and can increase from syncing with a desktop or by using Clean Drive to bulk delete your duplicate files in Google Drive. For more info on this topic, you can view the blog post on how to remove empty folders.
When browsing files by type, the wording was previously a bit cryptic. Now all of your files are broken down into categories easy to understand. For example, take a look at your Documents; you will no longer see a long description like vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document but will instead see Microsoft Word.
The email preferences feature provides additional control over Clean Drive’s emails. If you do not like receiving emails about new features, you can turn off the “New Features” email list. You will still receive emails from within the Clean Drive application such as when your scan is complete. Alternatively, you can click unsubscribe at the bottom of any email.
If you have any questions or want to see other features added to Clean Drive, please submit them via the contact form.
Here is to a new year, organized Google Drive accounts and more features coming to Clean Drive.
